FAQ - Security and responsible gaming

Do you have questions about the security of your data? Do you need help controlling your gaming behavior? Find the answers to all our players’ most frequently asked questions about security and responsible gaming.

How do I know if I am addicted to gambling?

At Circus, we think that gambling should above all remain fun and entertaining. We therefore encourage you to play and bet responsibly.

To find out if you are addicted to gambling, you can test your player profile with this online self-evaluation test offered by the non-profit organization "Aide aux joueurs". Through 16 multiple-choice questions, you will discover your player profile and you can also find solutions if necessary. We advise you to take this test regularly to see how your relationship to gambling develops and ensure you don’t fall into addiction.

If you are addicted to gambling, there are help and solutions available: deposit limits, self-exclusion, voluntary ban, etc. To learn more, please read our solutions for responsible gaming.

I feel like I am losing control of my gambling behavior. How can I get back control?

At Circus, we think that gambling should above all remain fun and entertaining.

If you think you are addicted to gambling, you can ask to be banned from gambling, temporarily or permanently, by contacting the Belgian Gaming Commission or by sending them a voluntary exclusion request. It will then be impossible to access gambling on our online gaming and betting website, as well as on all the legal Belgian websites, in casinos and in physical gaming halls.

Furthermore, if you think you might be addicted to gambling, if you have questions or if you would like to talk about this problem, you can call SOS JEUX on 0800 35 777. This number is free and available 24/7. To get information about responsible gaming, you can also consult the Gaming Clinic website.

To get more information, don’t hesitate to go to our Responsible gaming page or check out the official leaflet from the Belgian Gaming Commission (PDF). And don't forget that the Belgian Gaming Commission protects all players.

I am worried about losing too much money when playing. How can I set myself limits?

At Circus, we believe gaming should remain fun and we encourage you to take all necessary measures if you think you have developed a gaming addiction.

Therefore, you can set yourself personal limits. To do this, go to your account settings. You can then choose a maximum deposit amount for a defined period: per day, per week or per month.

To prevent developing a gaming addiction, find all our advice in our Responsible gaming section.

A friend or member of my family is addicted to gaming. How can I help them?

If you think a friend or family member has developed a gaming addiction, the first step is to refer them to specialist help services. Located around Belgium, these centers can provide valuable support for your loved ones in need. Find the list of help centers in our Responsible gaming section.

If the problem is deeper, and external help isn’t enough, you can request a temporary or permanent gambling ban. How? By contacting the Belgian Gaming Commission or sending them this third-party ban request form. It will then be impossible for them to access gambling on our online gaming and betting website, as well as on all the legal Belgian websites, in casinos and in physical gaming halls.

Is my money safe at Circus?

Yes. Unlike illegal websites that very often operate from tax havens out of control, the Circus website respects Belgian legislation, operates under the control of the Belgian Gaming Commission, and is based in Belgium.

Therefore, the money deposited on your Circus account remains secure in Belgium.

Is Circus a legal online gaming and sports betting website?

Yes, the online gaming and sports betting website Circus is certified by the Belgian Gaming Commission.

Our website is therefore authorized to offer license A and B+ online games and well as license F1 and F2 sports bets. Furthermore, our website respects the principles established by the Belgian Gaming Commission to protect players' interests, such as control of the global payout percentage per game.

Which licenses does Circus have?

Circus.be has 3 licenses:

  • License A+ (Casino games)

License A is required to operate a casino. In Belgium, the maximum number of licenses A that can be awarded simultaneously is set at 9. It is the number of casinos currently operated in Belgium. An operator of a license A can request a complementary class A+ license to offer online casino games.

  • License B+ (Slot machine games)

License B allows the operation of an automatic gaming hall. The Belgian Gaming Commission can award a maximum of 180 in the Belgian territory. Holders of a license B can also request a complementary class B+ license to offer games of chance online.

  • License F+ (Sports betting)

The organization and taking of sports bets require a type F license (F1 and F2). The complementary F+ license allows the license holder to also organize online betting.

As a Belgian citizen, which gaming websites can I safely play on?

On 1 January 2011, legislation was brought into force for the Belgian online gaming sector. This law obliges us to hold an official Belgian license. Circus has the necessary licenses (license A, license B +4031, license F1 and license F2) and is therefore legally authorized to operate an online gaming and sports betting website.

If you play on gaming and sports betting websites that haven’t been authorized by the Belgian Gaming Commission, you are committing an offense and you risk being sued. Furthermore, a non-authorized gaming or sports betting website risks being blocked by the authorities and you run the risk of losing your money. You also do not benefit from the mechanisms established by the Belgian Gaming Commission for protecting players.

In conclusion, always be informed before registering for an online gaming or sports betting website, and choose a 100% legal website, such as Circus.
